3 Simple Home Organization Tips
Spring is a great time to get everything in order, especially in your home. Living in disorganization can be stressful, and it can make your home feel out of control. Personally, I tend to accumulate a lot of excess stuff over the year and things begin to clutter. So, every Spring, I really enjoy purging my space and doing some organizing. I’ve picked up some great tips with the help of others that I will be sharing with you in this blog post.
1. Purge and donate or sell
At least once a year, it is a good idea to really go through all of your belongings in each space of your home and examine what you have. By doing this, you will probably find that you are holding onto things you don’t necessarily need. Holding on to items that no longer have a purpose can take up space in your home which doesn’t allow you to bring in new items that could benefit you. When you come across items that are no longer useful or of sentimental value, it is a great time to donate them to those in need or sell them on Facebook marketplace, eBay, etc.
2. Invest in Organization Products
Organizing is really hard if you don’t have the proper tools to help you not only get organized but to keep things that way. Luckily there are so many great products on the market that can help you. Amazon has an entire home organization section on their website with different bins, organizers, label makers, you name it. There a lot of really creative ways to utilize your space, Pinterest or Instagram are great places to look for inspiration!
3. Take it day by day, room by room
I often feel like getting started is the hardest part when it comes to decluttering and organizing. One way to make it less stressful is to take it day by day or room by room. Doing it all in one day is unrealistic, so try to get rid of that expectation and not put too much pressure on yourself. A trick that I learned to actually help me get stuff done is to set a twenty-minute timer. All you do is what you can accomplish in twenty minutes, when the timer is up, take a break and do something else. By doing tasks like organizing in short bursts of time, you might find that it is a lot easier to do. Above all, remember that it will take time and go easy on yourself.
Below, I have included a list of some of my favorite organization websites, products, and ideas. I hope you all have a great weekend! Be sure to let me know if you tried any of these tips and if they worked for you.
