A Guide to the Western Idaho Fair

No summer is complete without a trip to the fair! Although the Western Idaho Fair is coming to end, you still have a few days to join in on the fun. The Western Idaho Fair is currently open and will run through Sunday, August 27th before closing for the season. With just a few days left, there is still plenty to enjoy at the fair from the concessions, carnival games, live music, attractions and more. In this blog post, I will be sharing my guide to the Western Idaho Fair so that you can have a great time with your friends and family.

Live music:

If you were hoping to catch some live music at the Idaho Fair, you still have time. The final act in the Western Idaho Fair’s concert lineup is the multi platinum rock band, Seether. Tonight, August 27th at 7:30pm, Seether will take the ICCU Grandstand for a night of fun and memorable music.

Carnival Rides:

My favorite part of any fair is the carnival rides! The Western Idaho Fair is full of plenty of old favorites and new attractions. For those seeking high thrills, the fair returns with Vertigo, which is the swinging chair ride that takes place at 100 feet, as well as the Ex-Scream Machine Coaster. If thrills aren’t your cup of tea, there are also plenty of family and kid rides to choose from like the Jumpin Jungle Fun House or the Rio Grande Train ride. To see the full list of attractions, check out the attractions page here

Food:

Another one of my favorite parts of the fair is the food. Fair food is notoriously unhealthy, but I think it’s worth indulging in, especially if it’s just once a year. According to the Western Idaho Fair website, “if it’s deep fried or on a stick, it’s on the menu”. With that in mind, the fair has all the classic fair food you could imagine from corn dogs, cotton candy, elephant ears, kettle corn, etc. There’s simply too many concession stands to choose from, so if you want to get an idea of what there is to choose from, visit the food page ahead of time here.

Entertainment:

It’s difficult to be bored at the Western Idaho Fair this year with their wide array of entertainment options. There are circus acts, stunts, magic shows and cute animals to pet and feed. One of the popular events this year is Rocketman Human Cannonball, where you get to see a free-flying act as a human cannonball flys over 65 feet. Similarly, the Jetpack Circus show combines jet skis and aerial water tricks for “one epic splash zone”. As always, there is also classic fair entertainment such as a petting zoo and carnival games like pinball, basket hoops, etc.
