Best Photo Locations in the Treasure Valley

One of my favorite things about Boise is all the scenery. There are so many awesome places to take photos whether you are looking for a well-known spot or a hidden gem. These locations can serve as a great backdrop to professional photography sessions and even just casual Instagram photos. From urban skylines to rolling hillsides, there really is a location for everyone that will perfectly fit what you're looking for. In this blog post, I will share with you my personal favorite places in the Treasure Valley to take photos.

The Boise foothills: Tablerock, Hulls Gulch, Camel's Back park

If you ask any handful of Boise locals where they recommend taking photos, most will probably mention the foothills, and for good reason. The Boise foothills is the perfect location if you want a really natural, scenic-looking backdrop. Not only do you get a variety of wildlife and flowers, but you also get great views of the entire city. This is a great place to visit any time of day, but especially during sunset for some golden-hour shots. The foothills are the perfect location for family portraits or graduation photos.

Freak Alley Gallery, Downtown Boise

If you are looking for something a little less formal and opt for something a bit more unique, this is the place for you! Freak Alley Gallery is an outdoor graffiti art exhibit located in Downtown Boise. The art is constantly changing and features work from Boise locals. The gallery is filled with bright and vibrant artwork that is sure to give your photos a fun and lively touch. Take a few steps outside of Freak Alley and you are located in the architecturally stunning downtown Boise, which is also filled with unique photo-ops.

Idaho Botanical Garden

Unlike all the other locations mentioned in this list, the Idaho Botanical garden does require a small entrance fee per person. However, the price of admission is well worth it for all the beautiful plants, flowers, and wildlife that you get to experience. This would be the perfect location for graduation photos!

Boise Train Depot

If you are looking for a mix of a more urban setting while still having nature surrounding you, the Boise Train Depot is the perfect place for you! The building itself is built in a Spanish architectural style, which makes it very unique to the Boise area. It is really beautiful this time of year as they have plenty of flowers and greenery. The train depot has a great view of downtown Boise that will look great in any photo.

Boise Greenbelt

The Boise Greenbelt is always a safe bet for good-looking photos. This is a really vast area with so many spots to take photos whether you want to be near the river or on the bridges throughout the greenbelt. The Greenbelt is beautiful all year, but especially during the fall with all the changing leaves. This is another great place for either professional family portraits or even just casual Instagram photos.
