The History of Falls Creek Falls 

Falls Creek Falls is located near the Snake River and has been around since Idaho was declared a state in 1890. The falls were named after Captain William F. Cody, also known as Buffalo Bill Cody, who lived nearby and often enjoyed fishing along the riverbank. It's said that he visited these falls frequently to take in their beauty and relax from his travels. 

It wasn't until after World War II that the falls became widely known as a tourist spot, however. During that time, many of the surrounding areas began to be developed for residential purposes. As people started moving into the area, they discovered this hidden gem tucked away in the foothills of Swan Valley and it quickly became one of the most sought-after places to visit in Idaho. 

What You Can Do at Falls Creek Falls 

Falls Creek Falls offers visitors plenty to do during their stay. There are two primary trails that lead up to and around the falls; each trail is roughly two miles long with varying levels of difficulty so there's something for everyone regardless of fitness level or age. Along these trails you may spot wildlife like deer, elk, rabbits, hawks, eagles and even moose if you’re lucky! You can also take pictures at various overlooks offering stunning views of both the falls and valley below them (just make sure you don't get too close!). Of course no visit to these falls would be complete without taking a dip in their icy waters – just remember to bring some swimming gear!
