How to Spend Memorial Day Weekend in Boise
It’s Memorial Day weekend! Not only is this such an important day to recognize those who have lost their lives or loved ones fighting for our country, but I also see it as a day to cherish the people we love and be grateful for the life we get to live. Boise has a ton of events going on over Memorial Day weekend, as well as plenty of activities to enjoy with your friends and family. Here are my favorite ways to spend Memorial Day weekend.
Memorial Day Super Car Meet- Saturday, May 29th
Enjoy your Memorial Day outside at the Super Car Meet. Walk around and look at all the cars, or even register your own to show off. There will be raffles, food, and a ton more. This event will take place in the Simmons Fine Jewelry lot in Meridian and begins at 4pm. For more info on the SuperCar Meet, you can join their Facebook group here
Capital City 34th Street Market- Saturday, May 29th
Enjoy your Saturday walking around the farmer's market! This is Idaho’s original outdoor Farmer’s Market where you can shop, eat and experience everything local. This event usually takes place downtown but is currently at a temporary location in Garden City by the river at the end of 34th street. Vendors will be open from 9am-2pm.

Memorial Day Flyover- Monday, May 31st
If you are looking for a more traditional way to honor the holiday, check out the Memorial Day Flyover at the Warhawk Air Museum. For $5 you can enjoy all-day museum access as you join the Warhawk Museum in recognizing our veterans for their service and sacrifice. Children under the age of 6 are admitted for free. While you can enjoy the museum all day, the flyover will begin right at 10:59am. For more info on the Warhawk Air Museum, check out their website here.
Memorial Day 5K- Monday, May 31st
I love doing 5k’s on holidays. Not only can it be a lot of fun, but it always feels very rewarding to have been a part of. The Higher Ground non-profit organization will be hosting a 5K (run, walk, ruck) at Eagle Bike Park. The event itself is free but encourages donations to support Higher Ground in their mission to provide support for military veterans and their families. The event will begin at 9am and you can register ahead of time here.
Visit Sandy Point at Lucky Peak State Park
This is a super fun and simple way to spend memorial day with your family and friends. Sandy Point at Lucky Peak State Park has wide outdoor spaces with shade, picnic tables, and grills to bqq on. I love this place for the beachy area where you can sit out and enjoy the sunshine. If the weather is warm enough, the lake is perfect for swimming, canoeing or paddleboarding. Entrance into the park is $5 for the day per car.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, I am wishing everyone a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. This is a time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. To all the veterans and their families, thank you for your service.
